The Johor state assembly ended with the status quo today, with both Perikatan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan abiding by a royal decree not to engage in politicking.
Johor Menteri Besar Hasni Mohammad said he would ensure all assemblypersons abide by Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar's decree and work together to help the people amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
State Harapan chief Aminolhuda Hassan likewise said they would not engage in political manoeuvring at this time.
The uneventfulness in Johor bucked the trend of calamity in Malacca and Perak this week, where PN moved to remove the sitting state speakers.
There was previously speculation that Hasni would make a similar move against Johor speaker Suhaizan Kaiat, but this did not materialise.
Aminolhuda did indicate that Harapan was prepared to strike back in case PN pulled off anything in the state assembly sitting today.
This is possibly in reference to a purported no-confidence motion against Hasni that was in the works.
Aminolhuda claimed that Harapan does have the numbers, but will pull the trigger at a more appropriate time.
