Kedah tipped to get new MB, state gov't on Sunday

Malaysiakini

Kedah will most probably see a new government this Sunday formed by Perikatan Nasional and headed by a PAS menteri besar.
The most likely candidate to replace Mukhriz Mahathir as menteri besar is current Kedah opposition leader Muhammad Sanusi Mohd Nor (Jeneri).
According to highly-placed sources, the sultan of Kedah is satisfied that PN has managed to secure a majority in the state assembly, thus leading to Mukhriz's ouster.
Sultan Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah had today met with some of the 13 Pakatan Harapan assemblypersons at Wisma Darul Aman at 2.30pm.
The Kedah palace is expected to release a statement on the matter later today.
Those who met with the sultan were assemblypersons Johari Abdul (Gurun), Tan Kok Yew (Derga), Teh Swee Leong (Kota Darul Aman), Yeo Keng Chuan (Kulim), Ooi Tze Min (Bakar Arang) and Phahrolrazi Mohd Zawawi (Alor Mengkudu).
Mukhriz has arrived at about 4pm to meet the ruler while the personal interviews between the assemblypersons and the sultan ended at 5.30pm.
Earlier, the sultan met with 23 PN elected representatives to determine the fate of Mukhriz and his government.
The move comes after Mukhriz was said to have lost the confidence of the majority of the state representatives, including two from PKR and four from Bersatu.
When asked regarding the swearing-in ceremony of the state executive councillors, which was supposed to be held on Sunday, the source, who was a state exco in Mukhriz's government replied, "It is no longer relevant".
When contacted, Johari, who is also Sungai Petani MP, declined to confirm the event on Sunday, but said the audience with the sultan went well.
"I left as soon as the meeting with the sultan ended, so I do not know (about the new MB and state government being sworn in on Sunday.
"Mukhriz is supposed to make a statement before 10am on Sunday," he said.- Mkini
