LIVE: Yang di-Pertuan Agong leaves Dewan, proceedings adjourned for the day

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah arriving to officiate at the opening of the Third Session of the 14th Parliament in Parliament Building Monday (May 18).
KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah arrived in Parliament at 10am Monday (May 18).
He was welcomed by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof and Dewan Negara president Tan Sri S. A. Vigneswaran.
Al-Sultan Abdullah began his Royal Address to Parliament at 10.21am. For highlights of his speech and other happening in the Dewan Rakyat, see the timeline below:

10.55am: Agong can be seen leaving the Dewan, proceedings have been adjourned for the day.
10.50am: Agong ends his Royal Address.
10.46: Agong urges employers not to lay off workers indiscriminately after businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic
10.45am: Agong confident Government will strive to minimise impact of pandemic on the people and nation, assure safety and security of people safeguarded.
10.43am: King highlights importance of the Government in taking steps to implement infrastructure projects and reduce development gap between states and regions.
10.35am: Lawmakers are observing social distancing in the House and almost all can be seen wearing face masks while listening to the Royal Address.
10.33am: Agong says country is facing challenges in many aspects, the latest is the Covid-19 outbreak that has affected the nation's economy and health of Malaysians, urges everyone to come together to save the country.
10.28am: Agong says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has the majority support of the Dewan Rakyat after listening to all parties, following the political turmoil that took place in the country in February after the resignation of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
10.25am: Agong shows appreciation to frontliners, especially those in the health services, police and armed forces. He urges MPs to rise and give a round of applause to frontliners battling Covid-19.
10.21am: King begins his Royal Address.
