Mahathir willing to be ‘lawfully’ expelled from Bersatu

Malaysiakini

Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad has recognised attempts to oust him from the party he founded, saying he is willing to be kicked out as long as the move is done appropriately.
“We find that many mistakes have been committed in the attempts to remove me.
“I am willing to be removed but in a way that is in accordance with the party’s laws and constitution.
“Even if you want to remove me, invite me la,” Mahathir said in a video today.
The Bersatu Supreme Council was previously speculated to harbour plans to remove him and his son - deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir - amidst infighting with party president Muhyiddin Yassin.
This was supposed to be done in a now-postponed supreme council meeting that father-and-son duo was not invited to.
Elaborating, Mahathir pointed to how Anwar Ibrahim had been given the chance to explain himself before the Umno Supreme Council expelled the latter from the party in 1998.
“He was invited and was allowed to speak during the meeting,” he added.
