Muhyiddin, others welcome to rejoin Umno - Annuar Musa

BN secretary-general Annuar Musa has welcomed Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and other senior leaders who left in the past to return to the party.

Annuar (above), who is also federal territories minister, said it was a joy to see a former Umno assemblyperson who left the party after BN lost in the 14th general election (GE14) now making a return to Umno.

He was referring to Tambun Tulang representative Ismail Kassim, younger brother of Arau MP Shahidan Kassim, who quit the party in 2018 but has now returned to Umno after 23 months as an independent.

"We welcome everyone including the prime minister, the ministers and the deputy ministers. All were from Umno, so if they want to come back what is wrong?"

"We really welcome (them). This is honest and serious," he told the media after delivering Aidilfitiri assistance to imam and bilal in his parliamentary constituency of Ketereh today.

In saying that, Annuar did concede that the smaller the party is, the easier it is to manage and the less fragmented it can be.

Meanwhile, commenting on preparations for the July 4 Chini by-election for the Pahang state assembly, Annuar said the PN candidate would be announced soon.

Due to the conditional movement control order (MCO) to combat the Covid-19 outbreak, the coalition would have to find new ways to campaign, he added.

"I am developing a new standard operating procedure (SOP) for the campaign. This time we are no longer using the usual way of involving crowds and marches during the nomination process.

"Instead, we will carry out the campaign in accordance with the guidelines and the SOP of the Health Ministry," he said. - Mkini
