CORONAVIRUS | Malaysia today reported 22 new Covid-19 cases compared to 59 patients who have recovered, according to Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Speaking at the Health Ministry's daily briefing in Putrajaya this evening, Noor Hisham (photo) said of the 22 new cases, five are were imported while 17 were local transmission.
He added that of the new cases today, 13 involved citizens and nine were non-citizens.
Noor Hisham said no new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours until noon today and the death toll remains at 113 casualties.
The latest recoveries today also brings the total to 5,571, a recovery rate of 80.8 percent to date. The total number of cases stands at 6,894.
He said 1,210 more patients are still under treatment. Of those under treatment, 13 are in the intensive care unit of which seven need a ventilator to breathe.
Noor Hisham reiterated that the fight against Covid-19 requires every citizen to take responsibility.
He urged people to comply with the conditional MCO and practice good hygiene and social distancing.
He added that high-risk groups such as children and elderly should be protected and people should also avoid crowded and confined spaces as well as close conversations.
