Civil servants on Grade 56 and below in Selangor who are actively involved in Covid-19 operations will receive a one-off RM1,000 cash contribution in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari announced today.
Amirudin, in a special address this afternoon, also announced that RM4.171 million had been allocated by the state government to provide special financial aid to committee members of mosques and surau in Selangor.
He said the decision to extend contributions to civil servants on the frontlines of the Covid-19 pandemic was made as an appreciation for their relentless efforts.
"The Selangor state government wants to express our utmost appreciation to the civil servants, mayors, local council presidents, district officers and all who have been involved in handling quarantine centres and actively participating in the efforts to break the Covid-19 infection chain.
"Taking into consideration of their relentless efforts, the state government has agreed to give a one-off RM1,000 contribution as our token of appreciation to all of them, including frontliners and those who work at the Covid-19 operation rooms.
"This contribution is for civil servants who are on Grade 56 and below," Amirudin said during the special address to update the people of Selangor on the latest status of the state government's economic stimulus package.
Under a similar initiative, he said that chairpersons of the Village Community Management Council (VCMC) at 371 traditional villages in Selangor would be getting a one-off RM1,000 contribution each, while the councils' secretaries and members would get RM300.
Recipients would get the contribution this June 9, Amirudin said.
"The same assistance is also extended to local governments, statutory bodies and subsidiary companies of the state government.
"However, state exco members and assemblypersons would not be getting this contribution. They have to sacrifice this year," he added.
For mosque committee members, the state government allocated a one-off RM400 financial aid each to one nazir (caretaker of the mosque), two imams, two bilal (muazzin) and two siak (assistants).
Surau committee members including one chairperson, two imams, one bilal and one siak, meanwhile, would receive RM300 each.
According to Amirudin, for mosque and surau committee members, the state government would try to make the pay-out before Hari Raya, which falls this May 24. - Mkini
