The Petaling Health Department has instructed the temporary closure of 19 schools in the district after 27 Covid-19 cases were detected.
"Covid-19 was detected in these premises. As such, they were instructed to be closed from April 19," it said in a notice issued to two education offices in Petaling Perdana and Petaling Utama.
The department said the schools will be closed for sanitisation under Section 18(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.
"The reopening of the schools will be notified two days in advance," it added.
Four Covid-19 cases were detected in SAM Bestari Subang on April 16 and another four in SMK Puchong Utama 1 on April 19.
On April 18, two cases were recorded in SK USJ 20 and another two in SMK USJ23.
One case was found in each of the remaining schools between April 14 and April 19.
They were SMK Bukit Jelutong, SK Puchong Perdana, SK Bandar Baru Sri Damansara 2, SK Bukit Kuchai, SMK Bandar Sri Damansara 2, SK Bandar Sri Damansara 3, SJK(C) Yuk Chai, SMK Damansara Jaya, SK Bukit Jelutong and SMK Seksyen 7.
SMK Puchong, SMK Seksyen 4 Bandar Kinrara, SMK Bandar Puncak Jalil, SMK Seksyen 20 and SMK Puchong Perdana are to close down for two days.
The face-to-face school session was resumed in March for primary schools and in April for secondary schools. - Mkini
