KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government will develop an app for the people to register and subsequently notify the state of any social events they plan to hold.
State local government and housing minister Masidi Manjun said the rise in the number of Covid-19 infections in Sabah was due to social gatherings like wedding receptions and kenduri events, among others.
“As such, the state government will come up with the app soon as a channel for the community to register their forthcoming gatherings.
“This will serve to notify us early,” he said in his daily Covid-19 statement today.
This came after a number of index cases from the clusters in Tawau, which is currently under the movement control order, were found to have originated from wedding receptions.
Meanwhile, Masidi said those who visited Courts Malaysia in Kubota Sentral, Mukim Sri Tanjung, Tawau, between March 22 and today must go to the nearest health clinics to undergo Covid-19 screening.
Jalan Kubota Sentral and Simpang Tiga Merotai in Tawau were among the seven new clusters nationwide announced earlier today.
Sabah recorded 73 infections in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of infections to 54,989 now. A total of 483 are still active cases. - FMT
