Kedah MIC unanimously supported the motion for party president SA Vigneswaran and his deputy M Saravanan to win the upcoming party polls uncontested.
The motion was brought forward by the state liaison chairperson S Ananthan during the Pekan Serdang party branch’s supreme council meeting yesterday.
“So far, the motion has been supported unanimously by all branches which had the annual supreme council meeting since yesterday.
“I expect all 336 branches in Kedah to support this motion. MIC needs authoritative leaders and vocal leadership to manoeuvre the party that is relevant to the Indian community,” he said.
MIC is expected to hold party polls where the nomination of the candidates will take place in May, including for all the top posts.
The party, which is part of the Perikatan Nasional government, has one MP, two senators, and three assemblypersons. - Mkini
