A road crash involving a trailer and three cars in Subang Jaya last night left 10 dead, including a mother and her eight children.
Based on an initial report by the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, the incident happened close to midnight at the USJ rest area on the Elite Highway (Shah Alam-bound).
"We received an emergency call at 11.42pm and 18 firefighters from Subang Jaya and Puchong fire stations were dispatched to the scene.
"At the scene, our personnel found an accident had occurred involving two Proton Wira, a Perodua Axia and a trailer.
"A total of 10 victims had died in the incident, including a mother and her eight children aged between 10-months-old and 17-years-old," said a department spokesperson.
The mother, 37, and her children were travelling in one of the Proton Wira, while the 10th victim was a man driving the other Proton Wira.
Her 50-year-old husband and father of the children survived with injuries.
The driver of the Perodua Axia suffered a broken leg, while a female passenger had light injuries.
According to the early report, the driver of the trailer and two children with him were unhurt.
The spokesperson said all victims and bodies were sent to the Shah Alam Hospital. - Mkini
