“The Malaysian Public Works Institute (Ikram) has been appointed by DBKL to carry out studies to decide on the next course of action,” said DBKL.

DBKL also said 530 flood victims have been relocated to three temporary relief centres in the city.

Non-stop rain since Friday has left several states inundated by floodwaters, forcing thousands to evacuate their homes and closing several highways.

More than 14,000 flood victims are seeking shelter at relief centres nationwide according to Bernama, with Pahang recording the highest number of evacuees at 5,189 as of this morning.

Barisan Nasional has instructed its state coordinating committee to open operation centres to assist flood victims. Umno Supreme Council member Shamsul Anuar Nasarah has been appointed to lead the coalition’s flood relief efforts at the federal level. - FMT
