KUALA LUMPUR: Four Electric Train Service (ETS) trains ferrying 927 passengers from KTM stations up north to KL Sentral and vice versa are currently stranded on the track due to electrical disruptions.
The New Straits Times was informed that a fallen tree had snapped an electrical cable, causing power supply disruptions between the Sg Buloh station and Kepong.
A source from KTM Berhad confirmed the incident when contacted.
"Yes, currently there is one ETS train that departed from northern KTM stations this evening, and is currently stranded. The train was heading to KL Sentral."A tree has fallen on the track and caused electrical disruptions, and delayed the train.
"Apart from the fallen tree, the current weather is also a big contributing cause of delay," he said in a WhatsApp message.
He said there were three other ETS trains, which had also departed from Kuala Lumpur and have been delayed due to the weather.
However, he said, repair and rescue works are underway.
"A locomotive has been mobilised to pull the trains stranded between the Sg Buloh and Kepong KTM stations until they reach stations that have electrical power.
"And from there, the trains will resume operating on electricity again," he said. - NST
