KUCHING: PKR’s candidate for the Bukit Saban seat has lodged a police report following an altercation with a man who hurled abuse at him.
The candidate, Mikail Mathew Abdullah, escaped unharmed after members of the public intervened.
In his police report, Mikail said he was in his car just outside a voting station to observe the voting process there when a man charged towards his car.
He said he got out of the car and the man proceeded to shout at him to remove his car.
Mikail claimed the man used obscenities and did not stop his tirade when he tried to reason with him.
He said when the man became more aggressive, bystanders intervened to calm him down.
Mikail said the man was still not subdued and some “pushing and shoving” took place.
“Seeing that the situation had gotten out of hand, I left the place with the help of the people there and headed straight to the police station to lodge a report.”
Mikail said he knew the man involved. He said the man was unhappy with him for his alleged non-compliance with Covid-19 rules. - FMT
