Golok river rises above danger level

 The Golok river was measured at 23.60m which is 0.10m above its danger level of 23.50m. - NSTP/Sharifah Mahsinah Abdullah

KOTA BARU: Golok river in Tanah Merah rose above its danger level this morning following heavy rain since yesterday.

The downpour also resulted in two other rivers - Lebir river in Gua Musang and Kelantan river in Kuala Krai rising above their warning levels.

According to the state Drainage and Irrigation Department's flood portal, the Golok river was measured at 23.60m which is 0.10m above its danger level of 23.50m.

The reading was taken as of 9am.

The portal also stated that the level at Lebir river was at 71.97m which is 0.97m above its warning level of 71m.

Kelantan river in Kuala Krai was recorded at 22.78m which is 0.28m above its warning level of 22.50m.

The portal also stated that other rivers are increasing slightly but remained under their alert marks.

The heavy rain had also caused several low-lying areas in the affected districts to be flooded but no one was evacuated so far. -NST
