To help flood victims throughout the country, especially in the state of Selangor, Amanah President Mohamad Sabu has announced that the party convention scheduled to take place today has been postponed.
“As the president of Amanah, I have instructed all levels of the party to come down immediately to help flood victims throughout the country, especially in Selangor.
"We have postponed the Amanah Convention which was supposed to be held today to prioritise matters related to the interests of the people," he said in a statement today.
Heavy rains have continued since last Friday, causing natural disasters in the Klang Valley and other states.
More than 14,000 flood victims are at temporary evacuation centers (PPS) with Pahang registering the highest number of victims at 5,189 this morning and Selangor having 4,596 people in the shelters.
Apart from Selangor and Pahang other affected states include Terengganu, Kelantan, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and most recently Perak.
Last night, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob asked the Royal Malaysian Police and the Malaysian Armed Forces to mobilise more assets and personnel following the severe floods in Selangor and other states. - Mkini
