Two teens held for bullying after boy, 14, lands in hospital

Police said they are tracking down the other suspects involved in the bullying incident.

PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested two teenagers suspected of being involved in a bullying incident that saw a 14-year-old boy being sent to hospital.

In a statement, Muar district police chief Zaharudin Rasip said they received a report yesterday afternoon about a bullying incident that involved the boy and several senior students on Dec 9.

The boy was sent to hospital after he suffered swelling around the ribcage as a result of the incident.

“Preliminary investigations found that the incident stemmed from some senior students who were displeased with the attitude of the victim and his friends.”

The two older boys, both 16, were arrested in Kuala Sungai Baru, Melaka and Johor Bahru.

“Efforts to track down other suspects are still under way,” said Zaharudin.

The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code, which covers rioting and carries a punishment of up to two years in jail or a fine, or both. - FMT
