PETALING JAYA: Bersatu’s Ampang division has called for a Umno cabinet member to be dropped if Zuraida Kamaruddin is retained as a minister.
If the prime minister wants to hand Zuraida a lifeline then he needs to use a ministerial quota from Umno, not steal from Bersatu,” said Ampang division leader Isa Saidi.
He criticised Zuraida, who is MP for Ampang, as being hypocritical and unprincipled, following her statement earlier today that she hoped the prime minister would retain her as minister for plantation industries and commodities after she resigned from Bersatu last month.
Isa said Zuraida was so desperate to retain her post that she was willing to “get down on her knees and beg” Umno and Barisan Nasional for it.
He said she had previously been a fierce critic of Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and fomer Umno president Najib Razak “but now they have become her saviours”.
Zuraida said last month she was joining the newly formed Parti Bangsa Malaysia and has been named “president designate”.
Zuraida was appointed to her current Cabinet portfolio on Aug 27 last year while with Bersatu. She left the party to join PBM on May 26. - FMT
