Mas Ermieyati: Zahid's misappropriation claims baseless

 

Masjid Tanah MP Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s misappropriation claims against her were “baseless”.

In a statement last night, Mas Ermieyati (above, left) said she had refuted such allegations before during the Malacca state election campaign last year.

“However, (Zahid’s) accusation was in the form of a sworn statement from the witness stand in court.

“In view of this, I need to study the accusation in more detail (before deciding) if further action needs to be taken,” she said.

Zahid had accused Mas Ermieyati and Jeli MP Mustapa Mohamed of defecting from Umno to Bersatu in 2018 because they were being investigated by the MACC.

This allegation was made when Zahid was testifying in his trial for money laundering, criminal breach of trust and corruption involving funds from Yayasan Akal Budi, a foundation he runs.

Yesterday, Mustapa denied the allegations as well, stressing that he had given statements to the MACC twice on unrelated matters.

As for Mas Ermieyati, she said that the funds which Zahid claims to have been misappropriated had been properly disbursed by the Malacca state and division Puteri Umno leadership to prepare for the 2018 general election. - Mkini
