KUALA LUMPUR: Police have recovered a Smith & Wesson revolver with 13 bullets believed to belong to a suspected gang member who was killed in a shootout last Saturday.
The man was part of a criminal group that had been active since 2009.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Azmi Abu Kassim said the firearm was discovered at 1.30pm on Tuesday when police returned to Salak Selatan, where the suspect was shot, and inspected a car parked there.
A bag containing the firearm and bullets was found under the driver’s seat.
“The vehicle is believed to have been used by the suspect before the shooting incident,” he said in a statement today.
The 40-year-old man was shot dead and eight other suspects arrested in several operations in the Klang Valley.
The gang is believed to have been involved in 15 robberies, three murders and various other cases involving drugs, burglary and vehicles.
Azmi said investigations were under way to track down the rest of the gang. - FMT
