PAS is of the position that those seeking to expedite the general election are "power crazy" and not those who want to focus on other areas of government first.
Its president Abdul Hadi Awang said he has repeatedly stated that other matters are more important, such as the threat posed by Covid-19.
"Usually those who want to speed things up are power crazy. Those who are patient are not... (PAS) thinks long term," said Hadi after delivering his weekly lecture in Rusila, Terengganu today.
He said that the state elections that had happened in recent years were caused by Umno machinations.
"We participated (in those elections) because we were forced to," he said in response to Johor Umno deputy chief Nur Jazlan Mohamed who accused PAS of being "power crazy".
Nur Jazlan said that several PAS figures with government positions are unwilling to let go and therefore were not keen on a fresh election.
Refuting this, Hadi added that PAS had long gotten used to being out of power and that only those who are hungry to get back in power are truly power crazy.
"PAS lost (elections) before. We've always lost. We rarely win. Those who are feeling uncomfortable are the ones who usually win and rarely lose," he said.
Yesterday, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi again reiterated his position that an election should be held soon. - Mkini
