PETALING JAYA: Isham Jalil has been axed as Selangor Barisan Nasional (BN) information chief with immediate effect.
In a Facebook post, Isham said he received a letter from Selangor BN, which stated that the position of state information chief was not provided for in the coalition’s constitution.
He expressed his gratitude to his colleagues and supporters, urging them to continue the struggle though he was no longer in the state leadership.
“I would like to thank all those who have worked with me during my time as the Selangor BN information chief,” he said.
Isham said that even without a post, he would help the coalition as much as he could and continue contributing as a regular member.
The letter, signed by Selangor BN secretary Mohamad Satim Diman, cited Clause 23 of the BN constitution that does not provide for the state chairman to appoint an information chief.
“Selangor BN would like to record the highest appreciation and gratitude for the contributions that you have given to Selangor BN during your tenure as information chief,” the letter said. - FMT
