Former foreign minister Anifah Aman said he was shocked at being implicated as among the politicians who have received money from Ultra Kirana Sdn Bhd (UKSB).
"It was reported that my name has been recorded in UKSB's ledger as one of the recipients of monies. I am shocked by these reports.
"As the then foreign minister, I meet many people. To my recollection, I have neither met David Tan nor have I received any monies from him or UKSB.
"I do not know who they are and I did not have any dealings with them in any manner whatsoever," he said in a statement released yesterday.
Anifah's name came up during the trial of Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's corruption case.
Zahid is standing trial for allegedly taking bribes from UKSB in exchange for a visa-related contract when he was the home minister.
The payments made to Zahid were recorded in a ledger, which also contained the names of several other politicians.
Former UKSB administrative manager David Tan testified in Zahid's case and confirmed the contents of the ledger, which he described as "political donations".
Anifah, who is the president of Parti Cinta Malaysia, said he is prepared to facilitate the probe.
"I am willing and able to assist any investigations by the authorities on this to clear my good name," he said. - Mkini
