KUALA LUMPUR: The government has appointed a new chairman of Finas, the national film development corporation, and an interim chairman of the internet regulator, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
Senator Zurainah Musa was appointed Finas chairman for two years from today, while Salim Fateh Din was appointed as the interim chairman of the MCMC.
The appointments were announced today by communications and multimedia minister Annuar Musa.
Zurainah replaces Zakaria Abdul Hamid who completed his service on May 22.
She is a member of the National Population and Family Development Board, executive director of Berjaya Corporation Bhd and the company’s communications head, and also a director of some subsidiaries of Berjaya Assets Bhd.
She is also a director of Kumpulan Uzma and is active in community activities and organisations such as Yayasan Pendidikan Cheras and Persatuan Ibu Tunggal, Warga Emas dan OKU.
Salim, a current member of MCMC, replaces Fadhlullah Suhaimi Abdul Malek who ended his service yesterday.
He is executive vice-chairman of Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd and was previously the company’s group managing director. He was founder and group managing director of Gapurna Sdn Bhd and was non-executive chairman of Giant Malaysia and non-executive chairman of British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Bhd. - FMT
