PAS leaders who slammed Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi over his call for the 15th general election to be held immediately must be aware that their power was about to disappear, said Umno youth communications director Syed Mohd Johan Rizal Syed Unan Mashri.
According to Syed Mohd Johan (above), PAS leaders have recently teamed up to attack the Umno leadership in a way that has “exceeded the limits of manners in friendship”.
Referring specifically to the latest statement by PAS Information chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin and Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor against Zahid, Syed Mohd Johan said their actions were interference in Umno affairs.
“It is clear from the voices of these two PAS leaders that they are GE phobic because they are aware that when they lose their positions, they will lose their privileges as ministers and menteri besar, and it is getting closer.
“If possible, they want to stop time so that the end date of the current term, which is in the middle of next year, does not arrive,” he said in a statement today.
Syed Mohd Johan said that Khairil Nizam’s statement is understood as defending the criticism against the Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, who sloppily claimed that Umno wanted a quick GE because it had to do with the court case of some of its leaders.
“He (Khairil Nizam) forgot about Abdul Hadi Awang’s statement on Feb 28, 2020, calling for fresh elections.
“It is true, that power, even if a little, is intoxicating enough that a person with the status of a teacher can easily change,” he said.
No need for immediate GE
Yesterday, Khairil Nizam advised Zahid to stop “politicking” for fear of his own shadow and losing his job.
Khairil Nizam added that there was no need for the government to hold a general election immediately, suggesting Zahid should mobilise the Umno machinery to be with Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob and the government of the day in solving the people’s problems, especially the economic aspect which is increasingly oppressing the people.
Syed Mohd Johan said the push to speed up GE15 was the result of the voice of the majority of Umno members from the last party assembly through the voice of the grassroots.
“This is our party. We are good at managing ourselves without the need for outsiders to tell us what to do. There is no need to be busy interfering in the affairs of the captain of another ship when your own ship has gone astray.
“You better advise the Perikatan Nasional chief (Muhyiddin Yassin) who is now looking for allies, including the DAP,” he claimed.
“If it is so afraid of losing, PAS should not contest the election. That’s why the party is strong in talks while distributing donation bins because it is more profitable,” he claimed. - Mkini
