KUALA LUMPUR: A 35-year-old pregnant woman was bitten by her neighbour’s dog when she tried to protect her children at a condominium car park in Cheras yesterday.

Kajang district police chief Zaid Hassan said the woman sustained wounds over her right forearm in the attack by a Labrador belonging to another woman who lived in the same area. The neighbour, aged 38, did not possess a licence to own the dog, Zaid said.

The victim received treatment at Kajang Hospital and further treatment at the Animal Bite Clinic in Serdang as she is pregnant.

Zaid said the dog apparently freed itself from the care of its owner. Police are investigating the case for negligence in taking care of an animal.

He said police would wait for a confirmation report from the local authorities regarding the dog’s licence. Should the dog be unlicensed, the police would charge the owner in court, he added. - FMT
