Sepang Pakatan Harapan has reiterated its commitment to helping the rakyat, especially amidst the rising cost of living, as it said the government is “obsessed with politicking and fighting for power” to care for the well-being of the people.
This comes after Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said last night that BN can recapture the Sepang parliamentary seat in the upcoming 15th general election (GE15).
“Harapan in Sepang will continue to focus on its work helping and providing service to the rakyat here as long as the general election has not been announced.
“Our focus is only on the rakyat right now, especially as we are in the midst of a drastic rise in the prices of goods and cost of living.
“The failure of the government of the day to monitor the rise in cost and shortage in food supply clearly shows that they are obsessed with politicking and fighting for power and do not care about the fate of the rakyat,” said Amanah Youth communication and multimedia deputy secretary Anas As-Said Zaharuddin in a statement today.
‘Cap ayam’ govt
Anas, who is also the press secretary to Sepang MP Hanipa Maidin, said the administration is a “cap ayam” government that has failed to govern the country and restore the economy.
Harapan on the other hand has continued to hold weekly programmes in Sepang to provide aid to the needy and those from the low-income B40 group, he added.
Amanah Youth had also launched a campaign protesting the price hike of goods, which he said was kicked off with a demonstration at Sogo Kuala Lumpur recently.
The protest was well-received in several other states such as Selangor and Terengganu and they will continue this campaign nationwide, Anas added.
Last night, while attending an event held for haj pilgrims bound for Saudi Arabia and also in conjunction with BN’s 48th-anniversary celebrations at the Sepang parliamentary level, Zahid said it was possible for BN to recapture Sepang in GE15.
This is because the seat had been won by BN before and was only taken over by the opposition due to the political tsunami in GE14. - Mkini
