Last night, a trailer carrying timber overturned in an accident involving four other vehicles at kilometre 65, Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai, Kelantan, say police.
Gua Musang District police chief superintendent Sik Choon Foo said the accident occurred at about 6.30pm after a Proton Wira skidded to the right of the road and hit a trailer coming from the opposite direction.
“This caused the trailer to overturn in the middle of the road, then two Perodua Alza and a Proton Exora did not manage to evade and collided with logs that fell on the road.
“As a result, the traffic situation was blocked for five kilometres from both directions,” he said in a press statement when contacted last night.
Photos of the accident showing the overturned trailer, the other vehicles involved, and the spilt logs went viral on social media.
The incident caused the main road connecting the two districts to be blocked, resulting in heavy congestion.
In the meantime, Sik said investigations into the incident were still ongoing.
He said everyone involved was safe, and only the trailer driver had suffered minor injuries.
“Traffic conditions returned to normal after the clean-up work was done, which took up to six hours.
“The case is being investigated under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless driving resulting in an accident, and investigations are still underway,” he explained. - Mkini
