Former BN secretary-general Annuar Musa witnessed a "coalition agreement" between Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan claimed this in response to his Umno counterpart Shahril Hamdan stating that no such agreement existed.
In a statement today, Wan Saiful said a "coalition agreement" was a form of "best practices" adopted by Ismail Sabri, which was common in other democracies.
"This has to be commended. Tahniah Ismail Sabri!" he added.
Shahrir had disputed Wan Saiful's claim that Ismail Sabri and PN signed an agreement which included details of cabinet appointments.
Among others, PN is lobbying for the vacant deputy prime minister's position.
According to Wan Saiful, Umno too officially submitted nominees for cabinet positions when Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin was prime minister.
"We didn't accuse Umno of being 'power crazy' because this was the correct 'best practice'.
"So (Umno president Ahmad) Zahid Hamidi's lackeys shouldn't pretend to be stupid. When PN submitted a list of nominees, it is something normal," Wan Saiful said.
He added that Muhyiddin kept his promises to appoint Umno members to government positions, which was a sign of morality and integrity.
"The issue here is not (government) positions. It is about morals and integrity. Do we want leaders who are trustworthy and have integrity or not?
"I know some Umno leaders do hold trust and integrity in high regard. In fact, Zahid and (his predecessor) Najib Abdul Razak both have integrity problems which will be recorded in history.
"When those on top have no shame, then (the rest of the party) will not have morals and integrity," Wan Saiful said. - Mkini
