PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian judiciary will conduct a nationwide roadshow next month to promote its services to the public as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative.
The event, being held for the first time, will also include other stakeholders like the police, prisons department, the road transport department, insolvency department, health ministry, and the legal aid bureau.
Also joining the event are the Malaysian Bar, the Sabah Law Society and Dapat Vista (M) Sdn Bhd, the company that handles the court’s e-Jamin system.
“Through the programme, the judiciary hopes to widen the public’s access to justice and legal literacy,” a statement from the chief registrar’s office said.
During the tour, the judiciary and the stakeholders will set up service counters and hold an exhibition on the administration of justice.
The programme will kick off in Kota Bharu from Aug 23 and 24 and then move to Kuching (Sept 24 and 25). The event will be held in other state capitals next year.
Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat launched the event here today with the symbolic striking of a gavel three times on a board.
Also present were Chief Judge of Malaya Azahar Mohamed and newly appointed chief registrar Hasbi Hasan. - FMT
