BESUT: A man’s hope of making quick money was dashed when the car he was driving with 10 undocumented migrants was involved in a collision at Kampung Tok Dor near here and he was arrested by police.
Besut police chief Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the man was believed to have been offered RM1,200 to transport the foreigners from Chiku in Gua Musang, Kelantan, to Gambang, Pahang.
He said the collision occurred at about 7.20am yesterday when the man was believed to have fallen asleep behind the wheel and crashed his Perodua into a Proton Persona, which was heading in the same direction.
The collision caused the other driver to lose control and crash his car into an oncoming Proton Wira.
The undocumented migrants fled, leaving one of them, who was injured, at the scene.
However, three of them were caught by villagers and handed over to police, he said in a statement today.
Rozak said police were looking for the remaining six undocumented migrants.
The migrants who were arrested, including the injured, were aged between 19 and 47, while the 34-year-old driver tested positive for drugs.
The driver, who was also injured in the crash, has a record for drug-related offences, said Rozak, adding that all the injured were sent to Besut Hospital for treatment.
He said police seized four pills, believed to be ecstasy pills, and six handphones in the incident. - FMT
