After LRT, Loke pays KTM Komuter a visit

After making a low-key visit to try out LRT’s services last week, Transport Minister Anthony Loke has made a similar trip today with KTM Komuter, and to inspect the Southern Integrated Terminal (TBS).

He said he will meet KTM Berhad’s management soon to discuss improvements and increase the Komuter service’s frequency.

“I am made to understand that KTMB is facing various operational constraints due to the Klang Valley Double Tacking 1 (KVDT1) upgrades that are still incomplete, and the KVDT2 project that has been disrupted.

“I will also meet TBS’ management to discuss preparations to manage the surge of passengers on weekends and during festive seasons,” he said in a Facebook post today.

He said he has received much feedback on social media regarding KTM Komuter’s services, as well as problems printing bus entry passes at TBS.

His visit today involved taking a KTM Komuter ride from the KL Sentral station to the Bandar Tasik Selatan station, where the TBS links the KTM Komuter to LRT, KLIA Transit, and RapidKL buses, as well as southbound long-distance bus services.

Loke said he was accompanied by two assistants during the trip this evening. Photos that he posted on Facebook show him dressed casually, with a cap and face mask to help hide his identity.

On his first day back on the job on Dec 5, Loke had similarly gone incognito to try out the LRT Kelana Jaya line during peak hours, which he said is to better understand what daily commuters go through. - Mkini
