ISKANDAR PUTERI: Johor menteri besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi hopes that a proposed caucus of 24 MPs from Johor will fight for priority projects involving federal government allocations.
Among the projects are the construction of additional highway lanes between Yong Peng Utara and Senai Utara; widening of the Senai-Desaru Expressway; construction of the Sultanah Aminah Hospital 2 in Johor Bahru; and state water supply projects.
He said other projects included flood mitigation plans; improvements to primary and secondary schools; incentives for investors in Johor; greater broadband penetration; construction of the Rapid Transit System between Johor Bahru and Singapore, and the revival of the high-speed rail project between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
Onn Hafiz said the priority projects would provide an economic spillover to Johor, and it was the responsibility of MPs from the state to be the voice of the people of Johor in Parliament.
Perling assemblyman Liew Chin Tong (PH-DAP) and Benut assemblyman Hasni Mohammad (BN-Umno) recently spoke about forming a caucus of Johor MPs in the Dewan Rakyat.
Onn Hafiz in his closing speech at the Johor state assembly, urged MPs from Johor to “mobilise our energy and efforts to make the initiatives and policies of the federal government successful, thus bringing prosperity to the state”. - FMT
