PETALING JAYA: The court charges faced by Bersatu’s president Muhyiddin Yassin were on the agenda of the general assembly of Srikandi, the party’s women’s wing, which began today.
The wing’s chief Rina Harun said a motion which condemned the court charges against Muhyiddin was brought forward at the general assembly.
“Srikandi stands loyal with Muhyiddin because we are confident that he is innocent and that (these charges are attempts made by) certain parties to smear his good name,” said Rina in a statement.
“This incident has opened our eyes to how important it is for the Srikandi members to stand united and learn their roles in keeping the party strong.”
Muhyiddin was slapped with four charges of abuse of power and two charges of money laundering in relation to the Jana Wibawa programme earlier today.
Rina also said that Srikandi has adopted a motion on empowering women in the economy through the “care economy” approach, and for the country to be prepared in improving the healthcare for women, children and the elderly as Malaysia is heading towards an ageing nation status in 2030.
Another motion expressed confidence that Perikatan Nasional would capture power in Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan at the coming state assembly elections. The wing is to create its own election unit to assist with the party’s election preparations. - FMT
