PETALING JAYA: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah has advised Muslim against wasting food when breaking fast during Ramadan.
Wasting food went against the spirit of Ramadan, Sultan Abdullah said in a statement.
Earlier this month, NST reported the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation, a government agency, predicted that there would be an extra 75,000 tonnes of food waste during Ramadan, if nothing was done to reduce wastage.
The sum was derived from an expected 15% increase during Ramadan, which could see 19,228 tonnes of food waste generated daily nationwide.
