PETALING JAYA: An investigating officer in the death of T Nhaveen has testified that Padang Openg park in Bukit Gelugor where Nhaveen was assaulted, was not the main crime scene.
No clues to the assault were found in the park despite a sweep by a forensics team, said investigating officer Aniq Irfan in reply to questions from defence lawyer Naran Singh.
“We carried out checks at Padang Openg but found nothing related to the incident,” he told the court.
“We had earlier believed that the first scene of the crime at Jalan Kaki Bukit was the actual crime scene.”
Aniq said a police report by star witness T Previin also spoke about a fight at Jalan Kaki Bukit. There was not much mention about Padang Openg, which was approximately 500m away, in his report.
Five people have been charged with murder in connection with Nhaveen’s death.
They are S Gopinaath, 30, J Ragesuthan, 22, S Gokulan, 22, and two other unnamed persons who were juveniles when the offence took place. They are accused of committing the offence at the Jalan Bunga Raya park between 11pm and midnight on June 9, 2017.
The five are also charged with committing a grievous assault on Previin near the Karpal Singh Learning Centre in Bukit Gelugor that night.
The trial before High Court judge Radzi Hamid continues tomorrow.
Deputy public prosecutor Azhar Hamzah appeared for the prosecution, while S Yagoo and Maanveer Singh Dhillon also represented the accused. Sukhindarpal Singh held a watching brief for the Bar Council. - FMT
