PETALING JAYA: There is no special list of certain first-time home buyers under the Rumah Selangorku housing scheme, says executive councillor Rodziah Ismail.
Rodziah, who is in charge of housing matters, denied claims that some buyers had managed to purchase their homes ahead of others thanks to “insiders”.
“Only those who have (approved) loans can (own a house under the scheme). Cronies aren’t an issue, I think that claim is untrue,” she said, Bernama reported.
She said the bigger issue for the scheme was how certain names on the waiting list had to be dropped as they failed to secure housing loans from the banks.
She said all Rumah Selangorku applications were made online through a “special system” which was monitored by the Selangor Housing and Property Board.
Internal audits were conducted to see how the board approves applications, she said.
She added that about 1,500 affordable residential and office units were available in the state under the Bumiputera quota, costing RM230,000 and above.
Rodziah also said the state government had restored eight housing projects that have been abandoned since 1993.
