'Clock ticking' - Harapan, BN told to sort out seat allocations fast

Pakatan Harapan and BN have been urged to put aside "old differences" to face the upcoming six-state elections.

Umno Veterans Club secretary-general Mustapha Yaakub said the two parties should also sort out seat allocation matters with immediate effect.

"Harapan and BN are still discussing seat allocation matters. The clock is ticking.

"This matter was supposed to have been settled already because it is important for the parties to formulate strategies to win," Mustapha (above) said in a statement today.

Moving forward, he urged Harapan and BN leaders at the state level to put aside old differences and finalise seat allocations with immediate effect.

"We are now friends, and friends need to look out for each other. No backstabbing. We are no longer enemies, and everyone must accept this fact if we want to win."

‘Don’t clash for seats’

Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki recently said that seat allocation negotiations between Harapan and BN for the upcoming state elections are almost done, except for nine seats.

This development, he said, puts to rest claims by certain quarters that the federal government was not stable.

Meanwhile, Mustapha said a victory for the Harapan-BN combination is more important than clashes to contest in seats.

"Don't clash for seats. What matters is we contest to win.

"Harapan and BN must help each other to win, although the margin may be small," he said.

"BN voters must cast their ballots for the Harapan candidate while Harapan supporters must vote for the BN candidate," he stressed. - Mkini
