A PAS assemblyperson from Perak apologised after claiming that Seputeh MP Teresa Kok is replacing Idris Jusoh as Felda chairperson.
“The earlier post is not from me but an administrator managing the page,” Kubu Gajah assemblyperson Khalil Yahaya (above) said on Facebook.
Yesterday, Idris announced that the Prime Minister’s Office has decided that he would step down from his post to pave the way for a “more suitable successor” to take the helm.
A purported congratulatory poster was then circulated online, including on the PAS assemblyperson’s account, that congratulated Kok for her “appointment” as Felda chairperson.
“Today, I have been informed that the Felda chairperson has been changed to Teresa Kok, replacing Idris Jusoh. Good luck in your service (selamat berkhidmat),” he wrote.
However, Felda said no announcement has been made thus far regarding Idris’ successor.
“The poster in circulation is not related,” it said.
Idris was previously the higher education minister and the MP for Besut.
Kok, meanwhile, was the primary industries minister from 2019 to 2020, and was known for heavily promoting palm oil – a key produce in Felda settlements.
It should be noted that jurisdiction over Felda fell under the Economic Affairs Ministry during this period, not the Primary Industries Ministry. - Mkini
