Runway closure affects 20 flights at Kota Kinabalu airport

MAHB says continuous rain has delayed essential works needed before the runway can safely reopen.

MAHB said it was working closely with the airlines to manage the operational impact and assist affected passengers.
KOTA KINABALU:
The temporary closure of the runway at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) has affected 20 flights today, says Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) said today.

In a statement, the airport operator said continuous rain has delayed essential works, with the runway remaining closed to allow for the work to be completed safely.

MAHB said it was working closely with the airlines to manage the operational impact and assist affected passengers.

“Safety remains our highest priority, and flight operations will resume only when the runway is confirmed safe for use,” it said.

Passengers have been advised to check their latest flight status directly with the respective airlines.

MAHB apologised for the inconvenience and thanked passengers for their patience and understanding. - FMT
