Weaning the Weak

Anwar: Utusan has crossed the line in Christian PM report

Baby-led weaning (often also referred to as BLW) is a method of gradually weaning a baby from a milk diet onto solid foods. It allows a baby to control his solid food intake by self-feeding from the very beginning of the weaning process. Currently, what we need most is for Pakatan Rakyat to be weaned from DSAI as soon as possible because the day is fast approaching when he may fall, judging from recent developments.

The wheel of events is fast turning and I surmise that until and unless Pakatan Rakyat learns to play the game, they are going to fall splat on their faces, leaving their supporters reeling from shock.

The latest post by Raja Petra Kamarudin titled Out of the Box addresses many issues and is the catalyst for me to write this post.

In our midst are those who have a very limited myopic vision combined with a strict regimented thinking within the box. We are not thinking hard and deep and are far too ready to jump to conclusions after being exposed to an article/broadcast in the MSM.

Politics is all about perception. Both sides manipulate perception to create or even to confirm the reality that bolsters their interests. Naturally, perception is manipulated and if we are dumb enough not to realize what is happening in our midst, it is likely we may make the wrong decisions at the ballot box!

With the next GE a breath away, we still see the apparent inability of Pakatan Rakyat to organize themselves and still rehashing and recycling the "quagmire" label on BN. Get real. They have to move beyond this.

We saw this happen in Sarawak. What they did was to play up on Taib's weaknesses. That was NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!! Did they tell the Sarawakians what they could do for them? In real, tangible terms? On the other hand, much as we may say it was unfair, BN stated in no uncertain terms what they could do if they were voted into power. And so, the rest is history.

Pakatan Rakyat cannot make the same mistake again. They must consolidate their position because they are clearly losing the perception war and running around like headless chickens, each component party looking after its own interests! Read BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER for a clearer idea.

Instead of gearing up for the next battle, Pakatan Rakyat component parties are behaving like Linus van Pelt ala Snoopy, clinging on to Anwar like their heaven-sent security blanket! Granted that Anwar is the glue that keeps Pakatan Rakyat together but he is the very same wedge that drives them apart!

Pakatan Rakayt leaders seem to have an intense emotional attachment to Anwar in the vacuum of 'no successor' to the point that I fear the coalition may fall apart when the crunch comes. Pakatan Rakyat leaders need to wean themselves from bottle feeding for the day Anwar falls. And that day will come soon. So, are they prepared with Plan B? I asked this before in my post titled Pakatan Rakyat - Where is Your Plan B?

The turn of events clearly shows BN is on the offensive whilst PR is on the defensive. That is not good. It is clear that soon the last nail on Anwar's 'coffin' will be driven and what will happen then to PR who will be like a flock of lost sheep bleating and pounding their chests for their shepherd so to speak? Anwar is a goner and the tragedy is that PR is not ready for that.

Please do not misunderstand. I am a staunch PR supporter who has been silent for almost three weeks because of my disappointment in the way PR is falling behind in the race to Putrajaya. They strut around like poor and cowardly poker players, playing a waiting game without ever realizing how they are likely to lose. When the occasion permits, they stick their necks out gingerly fearing what may befall them if they defend their fellow component parties.

RPK shared pertinent observations in his latest post including the following excerpts:

1. PKR and PAS maintained an eerie silence other than accuse Utusan Malaysia of propagating Umno’s agenda and asking the government to take action against this Umno controlled newspaper.

Is that the best PAS and PKR can do in coming to DAP’s defence? It is almost like they are washing their hands of the matter and are leaving DAP to handle this matter all by itself.

Why did Pakatan Rakyat not remind the rakyat that Malaysia is a secular state and that Islam is only the official religion of Malaysia and that Malaysia is not an Islamic State?

2. Secondly, why would DAP need to remove Islam as the official religion and make Christianity the new official religion to be able to install a non-Muslim prime minister? Don’t you remember what Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said? He said that there is nothing in the Federal Constitution that says the prime minister must be a Malay-Muslim.

In short, there is nothing illegal if a non-Malay-non-Muslim becomes prime minister of Malaysia. The Constitution only says that the Agong shall appoint a prime minister who has the majority confidence of the house, that’s all. So why the need to remove Islam as the official religion? We can have a non-Malay-non-Muslim prime minister even if Islam is the official religion of Malaysia.

Why did Pakatan Rakyat not argue this and use this argument to defend DAP?

3. With regards to the porn video PAS is being very careful about taking a stand on this matter and they are leaving it to the court to decide. Why must the court decide this? PAS must state its stand, period.

Pakatan Rakyat is playing right into Umno’s hands. They are being very cleverly divided on this issue. They are worried that if they express support for Anwar and it turns out that it is really Anwar in that video then they are all going to end up with egg on their face.

4. If we close our minds and think that only Anwar and no one else can lead the opposition, what would we do if something happens to Anwar? We would panic. The opposition would disintegrate. Everything that we worked for would come to an end.

So we need to psyche ourselves in that there IS life after Anwar. If something happens to Anwar life would go on. The opposition would not collapse. The cause can go on with or without Anwar.
I agree it is not a black and white situation of Anwar versus BN but in the perception war, that is what they seem to be preaching! Is there some subliminal message being communicated that without Anwar, Pakatan Rakyat is doomed?

That is rubbish.

PR is doomed IF it really believes in that urban legend. It would be a case of a self-fulfilling prophecy! Time for PR to gird its loins to fortify itself to fight back in this psychological warfare.

The way forward is hand in hand, defending each other, cementing the cracks as they appear and not keeping an elegant silence or making feeble statements that are clearly hogwash!

If there is a weakness, find the source of that weakness! Wean yourselves, PR leaders, of any debilitating factor/s and start marching from a united stance to be on the offensive. Be prepared for battle - if not, be prepared to be flattened by BN if you do not break out of the shackles of fear holding you back!

We are counting on you to birth a NEW MALAYSIA!
