Bersih says there is no truth to the twitter posting that the movement will forge ahead with its street rally on July 9.
After an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin yesterday, Bersih chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan announced yesterday that the rally would be held in a stadium.
Commenting on the tweet, Bersih steering committee member Haris Ibrahim said there was no truth to it.
“No, it’s not true, the street demonstration has been called off. That tweet is inaccurate.
“We have not told people how they should get to the stadium nor are they any meeting points. All we advise is that they take public transport to avoid traffic congestion,” he added.
Police roadblocks were set up along major roads heading into the city during rush hour this morning much to the ire of motorists who were caught in massive traffic snarls.
