One aim, many approaches

  1. Once every 2 weeks, I make my regular trip to Selayang market to do my regular “wet shopping”. For regulars visitors, I believe everyone appreciate that its surrounding is not comparable to the hypermarket. My bright yellow Phua Chu Kang yellow boots is an essential gear. My regular fishmonger pokes fun at me and says that I need to be careful as the police might take me in. When I look around, I was shocked to see that everyone was wearing black boots. I was the only one wearing the yellow boots.

  2. BERSIH has several aims. At the rate they are receiving the attention by the government, now everyone knows BERSIH and what it is all about. Of course some people will believe the government manipulated version but I believe largely many knows the truth. Many people appreciates that the government is hammering the organizers and PR politician using all its might. It is like they the government using a hammer to swat a fly. These only invoke sympathy to BERSIH and indirectly to BERSIH. BN, UMNO and its thugs are creating more sympathy towards PR. The message that BN is an oppressive and unfair government is clearly registered in many minds today.

  3. The issue at hand then would be whether the WALK is still relevant on the 9th of July. I believe it has received the necessary attention from the voters nationwide. By no small measure, BERSIH needs to thank the RMP and the MSM for giving them the attention. However, since Malaysian tends to forget easily there is a need to reinforce the voters mind. This is to ensure a clear fixated image would be in their mind when election comes. Therefore, I suspect that the strategist at BERSIH will continue with their strategy and focus on the WALK and probably will call it off at the 11thhour using public safety as a reason.

  4. A friend commented today that it would magnanimous for BERSIH (and indirectly PR) and they would come out as a clear winner if they cancel the WALK. I totally agree with him as it appears that by announcing the cancelation of the WALK in view of public safety, they would earn more respect. If BN gloat over the cancelation, they would lose more support. Either way, BN have lost a significant public support. I believe many will not respect the 18th century thuggish behavior.
