Man U cheerleader Najib ready for big clash

Seri Perdana 'stadium' fully booked as local fans have taken up all the limited seats at the invitation of the prime minister.

PETALING JAYA: Come Sunday, Manchester United No 1 fan Najib Tun Razak will be cheering his club when it meets rival Manchester City in the English Premier League clash.

And joining the prime minister in the “stadium” will be hundreds of Malaysian Red Devils invited to watch the match at his official residence at Seri Perdana.

However, only limited “seats” are available and they are all fully booked.

“Thanks for the overwhelming response! Unfortunately (I) can’t accommodate all who registered. Space is only for a few hundred,” Najib wrote on his website today.

Najib had issued an invitation to Malaysian fans to watch the football match at his residence at Putrajaya, which kicks off at 8pm.

Those interested were supposed to sign up on his website by 5pm today.

Five months ago, Najib and his wife Rosmah Mansor watched the UEFA Champions League final match between Barcelona and Manchester United at Putrajaya Square with 10,000 fans.

But some parties have blown the whistle on Najib and gave him the “red card” for committing a foul – using the pitch to woo young voters.
