CHIEF MINISTER, Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman said the track record of the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) is the best as they are able to deliver promises of development to the people.
“BN is listening to the people and gives top priority to safeguard the welfare of the people in the country,” he said when launching the Kalimaran Festival held at Sabah Murut Cultural Centre here, yesterday.
More than 10,000 people, including Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Masidi Manjun, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tan Sri Joseph Kurup, Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Radin Malleh, Assistant Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Datuk Bobbey Ahfang Suan, Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Ellron Angin, Kemabong assemblyman and president of Sabah Murut Association Datuk Rubin Balang, Tenom MP Datuk Raime Unggi and Deputy Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly Datuk Frankie Chong.
He said the BN government under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak is concerned with the problem of the people in this country and many provisions had been channeled to the state to develop the state.
“Development projects like roads and bridges are also given priority for the comfort of the people in the rural areas, and this is evident that the BN government is sensitive to the needs of the people,” he said.
He said the noble efforts of the government, including peace and harmony, were planned by the leaders to give the best to the people in this area including the interior.
“I am also proud of BN elected representatives for being caring and responsible citizens. However, I would like to remind elected representatives not to forget their job and role as elected representatives. I want them to serve the people,” he said.
He also reminded the people not to be influenced by propaganda from the opposition which only come to see the people on the eve of an election.
He believes the people of Sabah, including Tenom, were smart and were aware of the opposition who only came to the villages during election time to make empty promises of the moon and stars.
“As leaders, we would like to remind the people not to be influenced by the slanders and defamation of the opposition on the government over the Internet,” he said.
“BN under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak is a government that has the best track record against the opposition, which is none,” he said.
Musa said the BN government is recognized by world leaders for its outstanding leaders who run the country.
Meanwhile, Musa described Kalimaran as good as it reunites and strengthen ties of the community, including the nine sub-ethnic Murut tribes in Sabah.
He said the government appreciated and recognized the culture and traditions of these tribes.
“The festival is also to commemorate the Murut culture that is known not only in Sabah and Malaysia but also by the world community, and I believe this festival is also visited by people from foreign countries,” he said.
According to him, the festival would also attract more tourists from abroad to see for themselves the unique culture and traditions of the local communities.
In addition, he said, the festival also provided an opportunity for the locals to obtain income by selling a variety of food, including agricultural and craft products.
At the event, Musa also witnessed the procession of about 2,000 from the nine sub-ethnic Murut tribes who took part in ‘Mengayau’ or march, to show pride, unity and greatness of their community.
He also presented the “Tokoh Murut” to the late Ahjie Ginsuan who was represented by the latter’s son, Juanis Ahjie. (theborneopost)
