Leaked video enough to justify Bersih 3.0
VOXPOP 'If Umno can instruct the NRD and EC to do something like this, then the EC and NRD are not independent and serving the rakyat.'
Umno admits changing students' voting addresses
Jedi_Who: An organised effort by the NRD (National Registration Department) and EC (Election Commission) to coerce students to change their addresses like this is surely illegal.
Further it was done in secrecy and contradicts the earlier statement by the NRD claiming it was requested by the university. It is still gerrymandering and vote rigging.
If Umno can instruct the NRD and EC to do something like this, then the EC and NRD are not independent and serving the rakyat anymore but serving a regime that is trying to cheat itself to election victory.
Tkosong: Why was the student registration exercise not announced on RTM or the newspapers? If it was legal, do it nationwide. Why the secrecy?
Disgusted: They want to cheat but have no brains. Now after getting caught, the civil servants of BN try to tell one lie after another to cover up the act to the point it becomes so ridiculous that it makes a fairy tale look true.
Why was the son of the politician whose constituency is involved doing there telling students that it is a Malay versus Chinese thing and that Malays must control the seats which DAP now holds, and so on and so forth?
Doesn't that involve Umno trying to manipulate the constituency voting trend by gerrymandering or transferring the students to that constituency to gain an advantage over the opposition?
This is outright cheating, done with the help of NRD and EC. This is the modus operandi of BN to cheat in the 13th GE. Why shouldn't we have Bersih 3.0 then?
Gobsmacked: Malacca assembly speaker Othman Mohamad, it is all very well for you to explain why you encouraged students to change their voting addresses but there is no point in denying the coercion to vote for the Umno-BN as the evidence is there in the video clip.
The ulterior motive on your part is clear. Umno is working hand in glove with NRD and EC to garner votes for Umno-BN.
Blind Freddo: The need for voters to return to their hometowns is far too biblical and totally unnecessary in the 21st century.
There is something very dodgy about the Malaysian electoral roll in that it is not open to the general public to peruse and constantly update their particulars.
The electoral roll is a document that is owned by Malaysians and not by the EC. In other countries where much greater distances are involved, a voter can vote anywhere (for his home constituency) and have his vote recorded.
The fact that this is not possible in Malaysia is a further reflection of how incompetent the EC is.
Slumdog: Why can't the students, like the armed forces and police personnel, be postal voters when the election is called and they are away from their constituencies? Isn't it a crime to provide a false address?
Ksn: This lying and passing the buck is becoming a bit too childish for any right-thinking person to accept and stomach.
What has the EC got to say about the abuse by Umno? Is not voting, where to vote, change of addresses, whether to vote at all the complete discretion of the voters?
Why is Umno interfering with the citizens' rights and choice in this matter? Is there a criminal element involved here, now that Umno has publicly admitted interference and intimidation of the voters in this respect?
Multi Racial: They are caught red-handed and now they start to twist and turn their story. In short, we call this lying. - Malaysiakini
