They roughed up a number of students and dismantled all their 10 tents (right), which were set up as part of a protest for free education.

Cameras and mobile phones damaged

According to Heng, the students remained calm and refused to respond to provocation.

Heng added that there were about a dozen police officers in the area but they did not intervene until the student's leaders pleaded for their help.

The thugs left the area when the police arrived, and eyewitnesses say one or two of the perpetrators were arrested.

Funny I was writing to my Malay and Chinese friends about the interview with Lat.
Why are our politicians not thinking like him-they prefer a segregation in a multiracial country. That was the attitude of the white man in the 1960s all over the world-see 1960 in the USA-White and Black segregated. Is that what the government wants to stay in power!

I can always relate to what Lat says-he speaks like all my Malaysian friends of all races!
