The tragedy of Uthayakumar

It was a glorious (though tear gas filled) day on 25 November 2007 as intrepid Indian Malaysians, galvanized and led by Hindraf, marched for their rights, long cast aside by UMNO and ignored equally by MIC.

I was thrilled at their courage, their decision and their thunderous voice againt inequality - I even penned a paean for them in 25 November 2007

I walked on 25 November 2007
In the man-made acid showers
Which burnt my skin and those
Of my brothers and sisters too
But the chemically poisoned rain
Could not burnt away the tears
That’s in our hearts for 50 years
But merely fertilised our resolve

... for more, read my words dedicated to those brave Malaysians in 25 November 2007

But unfortunately, our admiration and support made Uthayakumar hubristic - some people just couldn't take praises. He thought he was Hindraf, and Hindraf alone caused the political seismic shift on 08 March 2008, therefore all should hail to him ... so he expected as his due.

He became unreasonable and in his kafkaesque (wakakaka) hubris, turned around and bit his allies and supporters, and virtually demanded the Earth orbit around the Great Uthayakumar.

He wanted, nay, imperiously demanded, perhaps as another crowning glory for himself, the non-negotiable preservation of an already sold (by BN) 'High Chapparal' of Penang, Kampung Buah Pala. When that could not be achieved, he denigrated other (DAP) Indians as 'mandors'. Charming bloke!

My admiration for him turned into detestation, leading me to pen False prophets of Kampung Buah Pala in which I wrote (just an extract):

Once where real cow poo fertilize the land
Sheer utter bull now corrupts the pristine air
Confusing the villagers with sleight of hand
By their exploitative braggadocio and dare

Alas, arrogant hubristic mistakes after mistakes when suddenly he couldn't find any of his friends - why? - for this man had turned his friends into enemies - in fact he himself has been his worst enemy.

Now, even his own brother and Hindraf cannot stand his unreasonable arrogance. He faces the final humiliation as they have now disowned him - see Free Malaysian Today - Hindraf ‘severs ties’ with Uthayakumar

Will he now call his brother Waythamoorthy a 'mandor' too?

How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O Uthayakumar, you were slain in your high places - with apologies to the Church for paraphrasing 2 Samuel 1:25
