KUALA LUMPUR-- The people of Selangor are advised not to entertain any door-to-door electoral roll inspection carried out by the PKR-led state government through the Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK).
President of the Malay Consultative Council's (MPM) political and governance bureau, Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Hilmi Ismail said the state government had no right to carry out such inspection as it was under the authority of the Election Commission (EC).
"The electoral roll inspection) is not the task of the public, state government or party, it is the EC's job. To me, this act is the opposition's way of ridiculing the EC.
"They want to look for excuses so that when they lose in the general election soon, they have reasons to allege the EC of being not transparent and so on," he said when contacted by Bernama, here.
Mohd Hilmi also urged the opposition to behave like a gentleman in facing the general election by abiding to all rules that have been set up.
Recently, the Selangor government had announced the 'Selangorku Bersih' programme with the objective of cleaning up the electoral roll on a large scale with the involvement of the local community.
