The Umno deputy president and deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin has called on the Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng to take full responsibilities for the hill slope developments in the Penang state which has been recommended and approved by the previous state government led by the then former chief minister and Gerakan president Koh Tsu Koon.
According to Muhyiddin, the BN federal government also has clear guidelines on the hill slope development and the previous BN state government had pledged to adhere by these guidelines.
But based on the records checked, these hill slope developments were all recommended and approved by the previous BN state government prior to 2008 general elections. So, did the Koh Tsu Koon-led state government really adhere to the federal guideline on such hill slope developments at that time? Looks like Muhyiddin is trying to cover-up the past mistakes of the previous BN state government by asking the present state government to take full responsibilities of it.
Sounds crazy, isn't it so? Muhyiddin's brain must be too simple to think that the people would be conned into such statements that he made yesterday during his trip to Butterworth, Penang to throw some cash into the crowd.
Is Muhyiddin asking Guan Eng and the current state government to suspend all the hill slope projects and developments in Penang with immediate effect? Does Muhyiddin knows the law of contracts? The agreement has been signed (by the previous BN state government) and the land has been issued to the developers (also by the previous BN state government) to cut off those hills for property development when Koh Tsu Koon was the chief minister during that tenure.
Even if the state government had changed as the result of the general elections, the policies and undertakings made by the previous BN state government cannot be simply undone as there are many laws and agreements to be adhered with. The instrument to these agreements are between the developers/business entities and the state government of the day and not between the developers/business entities and the ruling political party.
And that con man by the name of Muhyiddin thinks that he could bluff the people with such twists and manipulation of facts. The people now are educated and they are now aware of the current and previous situations. He thinks that the people of Penang are like those kampung folks in his home state in Johor who can be easily cowed and conned with just a simple statement.
And for some Gerkan leaders, they had shamelessly announced that they will be taking journalists to some of these hill slope development sites to view the "facts" that are ongoing as the "result of the present state government's doing". Well, we hope the present state government will let it all out if such move is necessary in order to protect the state's reputation.
